Joker Wild, which is another variation of video poker, uses a deck of 52 cards, just like in pai gow poker. In this game the deck has a joker which is wild. But unlike the pai gow, all the jokers in the video poker version of Jokers Wild can at any time be any card. Jokers Wild doesn't have ace restrictions while pai gow has them. This page provides what I believe to be the absolute best strategy for playing Joker Wild video poker. 100 web games. By using the strategy listed on this page you can achieve a payout percentage of 100.64% at a full pay Joker Wild game. Make sure to remember that this strategy was devised for full pay Joker Wild games, which use the following pay table:
Hand: | Payout: |
Natural Royal Flush | 800 |
Five of a Kind | 200 |
Wild Royal Flush | 100 |
Straight Flush | 50 |
Four of a Kind | 20 |
Full House | 7 |
Flush | 5 |
Straight | 3 |
Three of a Kind | 2 |
Two Pair | 1 |
Pair (Kings or Better) | 1 |
The pay table above assumes that you're betting five coins per hand. If you bet less than five coins per hand the natural royal flush will pay out less, and your return will go down. Also, if you're playing a different Joker Wild pay table this strategy will be good, but not perfect.
Expert Joker Wild Strategy
Here is how you should use the chart below:
- Choose the proper chart depending on if you have 0 Jokers or 1 Joker
- Start at the top of the chart and work down.
- When you see a hand that matches up with yours, follow that strategy.
Example: Imagine you have Ac-Kc-Kh-8c-2c. In this case, you'd match up with a few rows on the table below. Your hand would qualify for a high pair of Kings, an AK suited with one penalty (the other King is a penalty card), and four to a flush. However, on the table you'll notice that a pair of Kings is higher than AK suited or a four flush, so you should keep the Kings and ditch the other three cards.

*Penalty cards are any cards which you plan to discard that hurt your chances of completing a draw. For example, if you have 7c-9c-Jc-8s-5h and plan to keep the 7c-9c-Jc, the 8s that you're discarding actually hurts you because there is one less card in the deck that completes your straight. However, it still makes sense to discard the 8s because you have better expected return going for the straight flush than to draw to the inside straight.
Straight (St.) penalty cards mean cards that interfere w/ a hand's possibility of making a straight. Flush penalty cards mean cards that interfere w/ a hand's possibility of making a flush. High Pair (HP) penalty cards mean cards that interfere w/ a hand's possibility of making a high pair (a pair Jacks or better).
